Kids Club
Our Kids Clubs are changing!
From September 2026, we will now be running 3 distinct sessions; 1 hour Wild Climber sessions, 1 hour Kid’s Club sessions, or 1.5 hour NICAS sessions. We will also be changing how the age groups are allocated, this will help us offer clear, progressive, more age-targeted sessions for all children.
The Climbing Unit remains the place to be for budding boulderers and serious climbers alike. Our kids love nothing more than moving on the wall. Bouldering is the essence of climbing and helps accelerate the development of balance, coordination, agility and movement in our young climbers.
We run sessions on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings as well as Saturday morning and afternoon.
Wild Climbers
Wild Climbers is a fun, game-filled climbing scheme for young children aged 5–6, delivered in 1-hour sessions. As part of the NICAS pathway, it safely introduces young learners to the indoor climbing environment while developing early climbing skills and creating a positive foundation for future progression.
Kids Club
A fun-filled, social 1-hour climbing session for both new and confident climbers aged 7–11 or 11–16. Packed with bouldering games, challenges and plenty of encouragement, Kids Club helps young people build confidence, make friends and enjoy climbing while developing their skills at the wall. Ideal for young climbers who want to have fun, get active and progress in a friendly, supportive environment.
N.I.C.A.S. Bouldering
NICAS Bouldering Levels 1–3 offers structured coaching for ages 7–16, helping young climbers build technique, movement, safety awareness and independence through clear progression. Separate from Kids Club, these sessions will teach children how to warm-up and include focused coaching, strength or stretching work, as well as certificates on completion of each level. A one-off £9 registration fee covers logbooks and certificates. Ideal for young climbers who want to develop their skills and make consistent progress.

The Boring Bit
How does booking work?
- Sessions are usually block-booked in line with Derbyshire term dates.
- Current Kids Club attendees get first refusal on the next block.
- Any remaining spaces are then opened to new members.
Do I need to stay during the session?
- Parents or guardians of children aged 11 and under must stay in the building during Kids Club or NICAS Bouldering.
- Where possible, we ask all parents to stay on site in case we need to speak to you about an injury, behaviour concern or anything else during the session.
- Children must be dropped off and collected face to face from the warm room opposite reception.
- This helps instructors share any important information and supports safeguarding.
Cancellation policy?
- Wild Climbers, Kids Club and NICAS bookings are non-refundable and non-transferable unless at least 7 days’ notice is given.
- If your child cannot attend because of a climbing-related injury, we may refund any future sessions at the managers discretion.
When can I book the next block?
- Current Kids Club members can book from 5 weeks before the next block starts.
- Bookings can be made in person at reception or over the phone.
- Payment is required at the time of booking to secure your child’s place.
- Any remaining spaces open to new members 2 weeks before the block starts.
Can my child climb before / after the session?
- Yes, children can climb before or after their session if they are supervised by an adult registered with us as a Competent Boulderer.
- The supervising adult must sign the child in on the novice supervision form at reception.
- Children must stay with their supervising adult whenever they are on the matting outside of session times.
- If you are registered as a Novice Boulderer, you’ll need to complete a bouldering induction before supervising your child.
- A Competent Boulderer can supervise a maximum of 2 novices or juniors.
