Our booking system for existing customers has now discontinued. If you are a competent member of The Climbing Unit, you can just turn up and pay, NO NEED TO BOOK.

If however you are a new customer then here are a few details:

Bookings – Terms & Conditions

Below are some terms and conditions which you must agree to in order to use our facility.

There are some changes to the normal operating procedures of the centre in alignment with the government guidelines regarding COVID-19. These have been outlined below:

Symptoms

If you or anyone in your household has any of the following symptoms, please refrain from using our centre until you have tested negative for COVID-19.

  • High temperature
  • New continuous cough
  • Lack of, or change of your sense of smell or taste

Face Coverings

Following the latest guidance from the Association of British Climbing Walls: Face coverings should be worn when entering/exiting The Climbing Unit and when in the shop. You may decide it is easier to wear your face covering throughout your whole visit including when you are on the wall. Face coverings are not mandatory for those under 11 years or those with disabilities or certain health conditions.

Free Entry for Supervisors

Competent adult members may supervise a novice without the need to pay for their own entry as long as they are not climbing themselves. This will allow for example, competent adult members to supervise one child whilst only needing to pay for the child’s entry.

Opening Hours

We are open 10am-10pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, 12pm-10pm Wednesday and 10am-7pm Saturday & Sunday. Our opening hours are subject to change. These times vary of the Christmas and New Year.

New Members

We are accepting new members. This includes both competent climbers and new novice members. Please be aware that any new novice members or those that are U18 years must be supervised on a 2:1 basis by a competent adult member of the wall. To speed things up on entry please try to print off and fill in a Registration Form (and a Parental Consent Form for u18’s) beforehand and read the Conditions of Use; these can be found here.

Hand Sanitising

We have introduced hand sanitising stations around the wall, which you are encouraged to use before, during and after your climbing session. Please also use soap and water to wash your hands, rather than purely relying on the hand sanitiser.

Payment

Card payments (preferably contactless) will be encouraged. Please be aware however that we have a minimum card payment of £5 so try to pay for small items when you arrive with your entry or have cash available for these.

Changing Rooms & Lockers

The changing rooms and lockers are available for use.

External coaches, instructors and reduced entry climbers

For the initial reopening period all external coaches, instructors and GB athletes will need to pay entry. External coaches and instructors may bring their own groups as long as they are working within the government guidelines.

Supervision for Novices & Children

Novice adults and U-18’s must be supervised on a maximum of a 2:1 basis (unless you are aged 14-17 years and have been previously signed off as competent by a member of staff). That is, 1 competent adult member can supervise up to 2 novice adults or children. Children must be supervised at all times in the building.

Groups/Coaching/Kids’ Clubs

Kids’ Clubs are now running again for 9-16 years. We are taking bookings for adult introductions and family taster sessions. Please call 01332 265864 to book, within our opening hours.

Café

The café will be open to serve drinks and snacks. There will be no hot food available.

Shop

The shop is open. Face masks must be worn in the shop at all times.

Water Fountain

Please bring a water bottle as the water fountain will now be a bottle refilling station only.

Hire Shoes

Hire shoes will be available but will need to be returned to a marked box by the exit door.

We look forward to seeing you all soon!
